BRES Offers two dynamic flagship programs:

Campus-Based Coaching

We offer a high-touch, high-impact, and results-oriented leadership development program for school leadership teams, including metrics-based coaching and customized, intimate professional development experiences. We work closely with your team weekly or bi-weekly, acting as both a coach and an extension of your leadership team.

Executive Coaching for Principal Managers

We offer tailored coaching designed to empower Principal Managers in effectively leading their teams through strategic and data-based decision making, and proven, results-oriented coaching moves.

What are the big rocks?

Big Rock Prioritization
& Implementation

Vision:

Confirming leaders build and align their calendars to ensure they are spending their time on the Big Rock priorities that drive student achievement, prioritize teacher development and support, and promote engaging and joyful academic culture.

What Success Looks Like:

75% of the instructional leadership team members’ time is spent inspecting and coaching Big Rock implementation.

Major Components: 

  • Time hijackers identified and delegated
  • Instructional Leadership Team calendars created weekly with Big Rock action items
  • School leader plans their calendar to coach teachers/staff and coach the instructional leadership team, via distributed leadership

Classroom Rigor:
Planning and Execution / HQIM Implementation

Vision:

Building the capacity of instructional team members to implement rigorous curriculum and instructional materials through the planning and leadership of instructional planning meetings or PLCs.

Supporting schools or districts with an adopted instructional resource or High-Quality Instructional Material (HQIM), as well as schools without a standardized resource, through developing systems for curriculum implementation, analyzing state standards, and internalizing or planning for rigorous lessons.

What Success Looks Like:

The instructional leadership team facilitates planning meetings and teachers leave with exemplar rigorous, aligned, internalized, and rehearsed lessons.

Major Components: 

  • For exemplar lessons, highest leverage teacher actions identified
  • For exemplar lessons, standards prioritized, scoped, and analyzed / curriculum internalized
  • Rigorous and aligned exemplar lessons planned, practiced, and performed

Student Culture

Vision:

Developing an engaging student experience through the creation of inclusive and rigorous classroom environments while fostering safe and purposeful student culture in community areas: arrival, hallway transitions, lunch, and dismissal.

What Success Looks Like:

90 to 100% of students authentically engaged in classrooms and transitioning to/from communal areas safely and punctually.

Major Components: 

  • Real-time coaching on words and actions to engage students and ensure all students are on-task learning in classrooms
  • Real-time coaching on words and actions to ensure students are walking safely and purposefully to/from communal areas

Observation & Feedback (O&F)

Vision:

Building the capacity of leadership team members to plan and execute classroom observations and feedback conferences with teachers that both drive improvements in instructional practice as well as foster strong, trusting, collaborative relationships that increase teacher engagement and investment.

What Success Looks Like:

Instructional leadership team observes classroom instruction and facilitates teacher feedback sessions ensuring major components listed below.

Major Components: 

  • Highest leverage, bite-sized teacher action to upgrade identified during lesson observation
  • During feedback session, teacher identifies highest leverage, bite-sized action to upgrade, teacher scripts and practices action
  • Leader fosters psychologically safe environments conducive to adult learning
  • Instructional leadership team calendars and plans for follow up

Data-Driven Instruction (DDI)

Vision:

Building the capacity of instructional team members to plan and execute data meetings.

By

Planning for the needs of diverse learners, maximizing student access to grade-appropriate content, and designing differentiated learning strategies that drive student achievement.

What Success Looks Like:

The instructional leadership team facilitates data meetings during which teachers analyze data and leave with re-teach lessons for the period of one to two weeks.

Major Components: 

  • Standards prioritized and analyzed based on assessment data
  • Bite-sized student gaps identified: conceptual and procedural
  • Rigorous and aligned re-teach lessons planned and practiced
